The truth is, the city portal director business opportunity really is the best business opportunity around today, IF you know how to make sales to businesses, and IF you are willing and able to go out and call on business owners in your town. It is not for everyone, and it involves actually going out and interacting with people and building up good long-term business relationships with small business owners in your community. You start out by getting them involved using the free stuff you have available for them on your portal. How hard is that?
It only costs $497 for the first 60 days, which includes over 20 training videos, and the set-up of your own unique city portal, with it's own unique domain name. The $497 includes everything you need to get started. Your unique city portal will be connected to city portals from around the world, which will bring traffic to your portal. The minimum you have to pay is $197 per month to maintain the rights to a portal. That is based on the sales quota for any town with a population under 100,000. It means that you should sell two premium ads per month, for which you pay $100 per ad, to have the premium ad posted on your portal for one year. If you do not sell any premium ads in a month, you are credited with $197 for future payment of premium ads, to cover when you sell more than two in a month. Therefore, over any 12 month period, your total payments would add up to $2,364.00, for a town with a population of less than 100K people, unless you sold more than 24 premium ads during those 12 months, which would be a good thing, because that would mean that you made more money.
The idea is not that you are SPENDING $197 per month, but that you have the possibility to be able to MAKE over $10,000 per year. Of course, that is entirely up to you to do. If you have done any selling in the past, then you understand that in order for you to make any money, you have to go out and make sales calls.
Portal directors were selling premium ads consistently for $1200+ per year, up until the big crash of Oct 2008. Now most of the portal directors are giving discounts to their customers. But that is why the price of the premium ads have been lowered to only $25 per ad up until April 1, 2010. That allows portal directors to make first time offers or special deals to their customers during this recession, and use this time as an opportunity to get new customers.
If you decided that you were only able to sell premium ads to businesses in your town for the low cost of $500 per year, and you sold two premium ads per month, you would collect $12,000 for 12 months, and that goes right into your bank account. And that is just for premium ads. (Do you know what yellow page ads cost???) There are smaller ads you can sell on your portal for shorter terms and for less than that, and whatever you collect for those is yours to keep.
So in a 12 month time period you should reasonably be able to make $10,000+ profit. If you keep in touch with your customers, and make sure that they are benefiting from their ad on your portal, which they will be doing because you will be contacting every other business in town, and when the other businesses look at your portal, it will create a buzz about your portal, and your customers will become repeat customers.
Of course, we do NOT guarantee that you will make anything, and this is just based on what some other portal directors have made. The question to you is, just like any other sales position, can you make sales?
More than ever, small businesses realize they need to advertise online to stay viable. When this business was started in 2005, many businesses were dead set against advertising on the Internet. Today, advertising online is not an option for most small businesses in America. If they don't get some of their business by advertising on the Internet, their competition will. The problem for the small business owner, is deciding where to spend their online advertising dollars. That is where the portal director comes in. Small business owners want to be able to deal with a real live person who actually cares about their business, and wants their advertising to be effective. We could just set up websites for thousands of towns and just take money for advertising, like many others have done. Selling is a transference of feeling. If you haven't listened to Zig Ziglar's "Secrets To Closing The Sale" I highly recommend it. It is over 25 years old, but people are still people, and the basic fundamentals of selling is still the same. The first book I read about selling, over 30 years ago, was “How I Went From Failure To Success In Sales” by Frank Betger. You probably already know all of this, but don't forget that technology and e-commerce has not made the personal touch, or the psychology of selling, out of date.
This city portal business is very old school. We believe in actually taking care of people, whether they are portal directors trying to get started in business, or whether they are seasoned entrepreneurs who want to become more successful, or whether they are small businesses that need to get more business by advertising on the Internet. This is a win-win business. Nobody has to lose in order for somebody to succeed.
There is a meeting room set up specifically for the city portal directors, which is basically a public chat, for the city portal directors to ask questions and help each other out. Since I am the Portal Development Adviser for this company, I find myself in a similar situation that I was in 25 years ago. I was working for a manufacturer's rep firm in Denver, and we were selling supplies to the plumbing wholesalers in Denver. As manufacturer's reps we only sold to wholesalers, who then sold to the plumbing contractors. At that time, Denver had been the fastest growing metropolitan area in the country for many years, and Aurora, Colorado was the fastest growing suburb in th country. For that reason, many of the big plumbing contractors only were doing new constuction plumbing. Therefore, half of the wholesalers had all of their eggs in the new contruction basket.
Obviously, Denver did not continue being the fastest growing area in the country, and there are not 10 million people living in Denver in 2010, as it was being projected by the real estate experts during that housing boom. In other words, the new construction slowed way down, and Denver found itself with an over-built new home market, and nobody had any need for quite some time for a plumbing wholesaler or a plumbing contractor that ONLY did NEW residential construction. Consequently, many wholesalers and contractors went out of business in Colorado in the late 90's.
But in the early 80's, during the housing boom in Denver, the manufacturer's rep company I worked for, was representing several lines of plumbing supplies and equipment that was primarily used by plumbing contractors that were doing repair work. My job was to go around and tell the wholesalers that they should be stocking these supplies. But the wholesalers who were busy making a fortune by just selling supplies for new construction, had no interest whatsoever in buying or stocking or selling plumbing supplies for anything but new construction. The few of them that understood the value of diversifying their business, were also selling plumbing supplies to the plumbing contractors who did repair work, even though the repair part of the plumbing business in Colorado was not where the gravy money was in the early 80's. So, the plumbing wholesalers and plumbing contractors who stayed in business in the late 80's, were the ones that diversified, and had some established some business in the repair market, which got them through the residential down-turn in the late 80's.
And what in the world, you may ask, does plumbing supplies in the 80's have to with the city portal director business opportunity in 2010??? Folks, I know that in the world of business opportunities, the name of the game right now is to just sit at home in your boxer shorts, and work on your computer about two hours a day, and then check your bank account and see all the money just flowing in. I have seen those brochures, and right now that is what everybody is pushing on the Internet for people who are looking to make money online with their own home-based business. People see the guy or gal standing in front of the Rolls Royce and fancy home, and on a yacht, or sitting on the beach in the Bahamas with their laptop, and they say to themselves, "THAT is what I want to do". If that is what you are chasing after, I hope it works out well for you.
The city portal director business opportunity is just an old-fashioned good common sense business opportunity. You actually have to go out and be a real person and actually make some real sales calls to real people who own real small businesses. And when google changes their policies and criteria for the way their pages get ranked, and when there are 100 times as many websites online as there are today, and when facebook and twitter and blogging are not the way to make money online any more, then the city portal directors who have gone around their town and built up a good solid working relationship with the business owners in their community, will be doing just fine.
